May: six hours and counting
When I finished my undergraduate degree at the University of South Carolina in May of 1975, the sitting governor, Jim Edwards, was commencement speaker. He began his remarks quoting a line from one of the Lerner and Lowe songs in the 1967 film Camelot. "It's May, it's May, the lusty month of May!" Whatever else he said I don't have a clue ... Thirty years later I realize that line has run through my mind more times than I can count during the Mays since that day in the Carolina coliseum. May makes me smile.
This May is nearly finished. It's been a wonderful month, a month which contained my first continuing education since CREDO in the fall of 2004. To long a span. But, the wait was worth it. I participated in a photography retreat at Kanuga Conference Center near Hendersonville NC. My class, "Seeing with a Digital Camera," was led by Kathy Eyster from Missoula MT. As of May 2006 I now have a new way of seeing to mark the month --along with Governor Edwards' Camelot quote!
I welcome the coming of June with very new eyes.
